Hey folks, lets look into how you can get your game looking super duper spanking cool. Here is a guide for how to install Mods for Witcher 3. For the purpose of this guide I will use 4 mods as examples, mainly because some of them have different ways on how to install them. Therefore hopefully it will give you a better understanding what to expect, plus they will make your game better as well.So you’ve decided that you’d like to try out some mods, but you might not know where or what or even maybe how? Don’t worry it’s a lot simpler than one might think Where can I get mods?Head over to Nexus mods - Witcher 3 section and make yourself at home -It is entirely up to you, which ones you decide to go with – with every day more and more get released. Nexus mods provides an excellent sorting methods, either most popular, most endorsed or latest releases etc etc. What should I know or do before I install the mods?.
Read the ‘READ ME’ files and Installation Instructions – this might sound silly, but this can’t be stressed enough how important this part is, you’d be surprised how many people choose not to and then run into problems. In most cases instructions are very brief and very straight forward. If you are going to overwrite any existing files that are in vanilla (base game without any mods) Witcher 3 folder – make a backup of those files. Have zip file extractor i.e. WinRAR or 7zip installed on your PC.Sweet FX/Reshade – what is it?
Why do I need it?In simple terms, it is an advanced post-processing injector that allows you to “inject” presets such as 1000 times better of E3FX into your game, you can get it from here: Always download latest version, extract the files and to install it:Run the provided 'ReShade Setup' tool, press 'Select Game' and browse to your Witcher 3 executable file (For example - D:Game InstallsThe Witcher 3 Wild Huntbinx64). The setup then tries to detect which API the game uses for rendering and uses that knowledge to continue the installation progress. If auto-detection failed, choose the correct API from the list yourself.
Setup then copies and renames ReShade + SweetFX to the game directory and finally provides you with the option to start the game rightaway. That's it!Next time you run the game, you should see the ReShade greeting popping up and a SweetFX welcome message displayed in your game. If that is not the case, try to do a manual installation.
Note that the setup tool is just provided for convenience and in no way required to get ReShade fully working. A manual installation will do the same good. Refer to READ ME for manual installation. Installing Presets - 1000 times better -This mod allows you sharper textures, gives the game colder look and makes over all visual feeling more realistic and less colourful. For 1000 Times Bettter 2.1 preset – After you have downloaded the mod, extract it and copy files into your Witcher 3 installation folder:.The Witcher 3binx64 and that’s it. Easiest way to test whether it worked is – ALT+TAB out of the game, and then go back in – every time you do that it will recompile the preset and there is a slight delay so when you are in game you should see new preset getting applied and colors and over all visual feeling will change. How to uninstall this mod:Delete these files:1. Folder 'ReShade'2.
Try disabling AA in-game and then maxing it out in Catalyst Control Center. Do the same for Hairworks (Turn to OFF) and then max out tessellation in CCC). Then download SweetFX E3FX Version 8, which also has MSAA. I have 7870's in xfire and by doing the above, I finally found a happy place after a few nights of fiddling w/ CCC, in-game settings, single/multi gpu setups, borderless, etc. No flicker or stutter and solid fps performance. I took last night. I'm extremely pleased with the setup and I could probably squeeze out a few more FPS as I still have HBAO+ enabled and a few other uber settings.
Even with your single 7850, I think this is the right neighborhood for the HD78xx, settings wise. I can probably post a more detailed breakdown of my settings, with pics, etc. Later on tonight if you want to give it a shot. Let me know.
