Okay, so here is the deal. We wiped the computer clean and installed the OS fresh. The OS is Windows 7 SP1. This is the first time trying to install updates.
For two days the Update client was 'searching for updates'. We got tired of that and we researchedfor alternative things. One was to install a specific update to the Windows Update client. After many hours of waiting for the Standalone Installer to 'search for installed updates' which should have taken mere seconds because it being a fresh OS there wereno updates to find.I am now pissed off. I am pissed that this BS is taking so long and that Microsoft has not found it in their expertise to install miniscule updates (50mb or less) onto our computers. We have no problems with the Internet connection, logging 50mbps routinely,and as I stated, there are no updates to get in the way of searching the system quickly and there are no programs installed either. This is frustrating to say the least.Crap like this sends me over the edge to Linux land.
I don't think Linux is a good competitor in this arena (yet) but I am serioiusly considering going in that direction.
