My sat nav flashed me on facebook

ENET cable (to allow remote coding)Arrives in X1 week. Will then install (or very much attempt to) in my 2013 M135i.though can't see why it would not work for any 1 series(?)I plan on taking a lot of pictures and will post an install guide (as I cannot locate a detailed one anywhere on web - no doubt looking in the wrong place). Please feel free to move this post over to m135i thread if I incorrectly posted.Updates and pictures to follow.(good ones I'm hoping!). HelloI ve been researching sat nav retrofitting to an F21 for the last month or so.Long story short is that independent BMW specialists MAY retrofit, but not so sure BMW will be keen on anything they have not supplied.

My local BMW DEALER (Dick Lovett - Bristol) is around the £100 an hour labour mark, so it depends on what you think is reasonable if you also had to buy the kit (it's a £1900 option) from them.If you google 'NBT' retrofit, there are lots fitted to Exx's series Beemers I cannot however find a single one fitted to a 'F' 1 series. Ebay has lots for sale from £400 - £1000 though I have come to learn that it depends entirely on your vin number (what the car already has installed) - this will impact how many parts you need. The install looks to be reasonably straightforward (famous last words) it's the coding that you would need to be spot on and I have zero ideas on this - other than to get someone who knows what they are doing to perform it.Although the car still has 15 months of warrenty left, I figure life's too short so I'm going to give it a go.

Nothing ventured and all that. If I can't get it to work ill plug back in what's already there.I'm not considering chipping or tuning the engine nor lowering the springs (not that there is anything wrong with anyone who's done/doing this) as I think the car is amazing as is and BMWs R&D budget is larger than mine(!).The 6' screen with cic I-drive is however sadly slow, basic and not up to date for such a good car(user interface has been around for what 10 years?).

I cannot wirelessly stream music, nor get directions or weather updates (ok not really needing some of the stuff it comes with!), hence the NBT is coming to do the car some internal justice. I retrofitted NBT to my F20, it was straight forward-ish.There are a couple of caveats.1. Depending on your year of car then not all NBT headunits are suitable - my car is a 2011 model & therefore does not have an ICM module that produces a Gyro signal for the NBT Navigaton - this isn't a problem if you have an NBT with HW:08 or less. Many NBT for sale are HW:21 which requires the external gyro input from the ICM.This was painful for me as I bought the HW:21 to begin with but now I have a HW:07The second issue is around what hardware is currently fitted to your car.

If you have a Combox in the boot it is a pain because you need to tap into some wires for the microphone for the Bluetooth & extend the Bluetooth antenna cable to the front of the car.If your car doesn't have the Combox then it is a relatively easy swap. Send me a PM if you need help with the coding.
