I need to know if this can be done. I have a user in the UK who's computer has been disjoined from our domain. I'm in the US. At one point in time I installed remote control software. I can use the remote software to get to the log in screen. I can't loginto any domain accounts nor do I have the local admin password.
How can I get this computer back on my domain? The only thing I can think of is cracking the local admin password but I don't know how to do that remotely. Is there another way around this? I guess your UK employee could try that, but it depends on their technical ability to follow your instructionsover the phone.Are they possibly admins on their own machine, if they are, they could VPN to your network and rejoin the domain. (how did they get unjoined if they are not? Some admin had to do it). But like I said, all this would be much easier if theycould bring the machine to you (or an IT coworker in the UK)Are you using RDP, VNC, Dameware, or something else to connect with?Don't forget to mark your posts as answered so they drop off the unanswered post filter.

I had unattended support installed on this machine so I could access it whenever I needed to. The user was there but the computer account got accidently removed from the domain.
So it's impossible to connectit to the domain. The user does not know what the admin password is nor has ever logged into that profile. The person who built the computer is no longer with the company so no one knows what he would have set as the admin password.The user has zero tech ability and zero patience. I am going to have to have the user ship the computer to me in the US. I can either crack the password here or extract the data and rebuild the machine.Thanks for your input in this difficult situation.
