Ever since EA dropped support for BF2142, the game gets stuck at the master account logon prompt. You have to disconnect from the internet in order to get the game to allow you to logon with an offline account. However, you can't get this far if you are reloading or installing BF2142, because you can't set up a profile without logging into the master account server, which doesn't exist anymore. So, it's a catch22 in this situation.

You need an offline profile to play singleplayer, but the game requires initial logon to the now gone master account server.A verified solution is here. I have created and tested this generic profile. The player name is 'singleplayer'Edit: This is for offline singleplayer only.

Deathlok Clan has a solution that works for online and singleplayer.NOTE: You still have to disconnect from the internet in order to be able to bypass the master account server login. The game will try to login, fail and then give the option to play with an offline account. After selecting the offline account, you can connect back to the internet. But when you do select no when the game offers to connect to the master account server.download here:Unzip into your desktop or wherever is easiest, then move the Battlefield 2142 folder to your 'My Documents' folder.Game Ranger issuesNote: Game Ranger will disable the ability to play singleplayer, because it's backs up the existing profile and makes a custom one. You can use this generic profile to play singleplayer again.

Just delete or rename the Game Ranger Bf2142 profile and replace it with the generic one from the link above.Customizing the player nameNow, if you want to customize the name to your own name, here is how:In the generic profile, in the My DocumentsBattlefield 2142 folder open up the Profiles folder and edit Global.con (notepad is fine for editing) and change singleplayer to the name you want. Now, open up the 0001 folder and edit Profile.con and change all references to Singleplayer to name you want. No, I don't think it was intentional, but rather an attempt to reduce game pirating by requiring a master account login for anyone playing the game. BF2 defaults to offline singleplayer without the master account login, but BF2142 just locks up. I have heard that the retail version will time out after a couple of minutes and allow you to login with an offline account, but you still have to login the first time to set one up.No, I am pretty sure that DICE and EA just figured that most people would drop BF2142 and moved onto DICE's newer games by the time that support was dropped for it.

I don't think they expected the cult following that the game has developed, especially now that it's essentially free or available second hand on the cheap. Ever since EA dropped support for BF2142, the game gets stuck at the master account logon prompt.

Hi guys, I unzipped the file that's been posted, and follow the instructions exactly as you have said, before connecting to the internet of course. But when I am trying to run the game in offline mode, I get the following message:'The EA account cannot be found locally on this machine.' Even though I have tried to alter the global and profile settings via notepad (who knows, maybe I am writing in my username, PrinceOvPersia, in the wrong places) I keep getting the same error message. I am very new to all this, and would love to play BF2142, as it is quite different to FPS that I have played in the past. Please help me, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.RegardsM.

The profile fix is for your screen name when you play the game, that goes into the Documents Folder. The BF2142 fix is a fixed BF2142.exe file, that goes into your game root directory. When unzipped the two files are totally different file types. One should be able to recognize the difference between the two, and if you look in your BF2142 files you will see files of the same type in the places where these two files should go.
