I recently received an Asus X205TA from a client which didnt boot after a failed windows 10 upgrade.1. Initially there was only 1 boot option in the BIOS (Windows Boot Manager).2. There was Bitlocker encryption on Drive C for which the client didn't have the key.3. His instructions were to wipe data and revive notebook.4.
Therefore, I went into Windows Boot Manager - Advance Recovery - Command promt and formatted the entire hard drive (soldered SSD).5. Windows Boot Manager was gone.6. I can't boot from USB, there are absolutely NO boot devices listed under Boot Option Priorities.7. On boot, the notebook now goes straight into BIOS.8. Previously, before formatting the hard drive, I upgraded to the latest BIOS version 208 but that did no reveal any boot options.9. Yes, I have disabled secure boot. There are no options for selecting legacy boot.10.
So now, I cannot boot to any device, even the SSD hard drive is not listed under boot options, all I get is the BIOS.Any one have any clues? Wow, okay yeah that is frustrating.
Just a few things I would try -Anywhere under 'Advanced' that you can disable something called 'Fast BIOS Mode' or 'Fast Boot'? From the screenshot I can't see if these values can be changed. What are the options for 'USB Configuration' under 'Advanced'?Also, have you tried plugging in a bootable USB device before powering the computer and entering the BIOS? I have seen in a few places online where Asus products need to detect a device before providing the option, 'Add New Bootable Device' under the Boot section. If none of this prevails, perhaps flash the BIOS to an earlier release?. Hello people. I have the same situation, when i wanted to downgrade from 10 to 8.1, i used the reset the pc option, then i started the diskpart from cmd in setup, cleaned the emmc which had somethibg like 4 partitions, and when i wanted to start the win8 boot from stick after restarting, there was no boot option available. And also boot override option is not not allowed and secure boot disabled, and also windows boot manager disappeared eventualy of course.
Also updated the bios to the latest version, after seeing a simillar situation on an Eeebook earlier verion. I have same problem, wiped windows to put in full install of Ubuntu, had to disable decrypt, disable secure boot and put bootia32.efi manually in efi/boot on usb stick to have it boot properly, but I had a further issues, grub2 wouldn't install or was corrupt. So I had to attempt boot-repair and still haven't passed the grub in ubuntu for installation.
So I was gonna just load windows back on it since I previously wiped it completely off it doesn't load boot loader anymore, just blanks screen out and returns to bios. So I made a boot usb. Won't read, same reaction, blanks out then returns to bios. Till now I still haven't got windows loader to boot up, ubuntu will load but errors out on installing grub2.
So I'm stuck with no os and no usb except ubuntu with a bootia32.efi manually put in. Any solutions or fixes for this? Is this thread still ongoing? Have people had any joy with their issues?Emax IT. Hi guy, the the following two steps solved my problems and i managed to install the OS, go to BIOS settings, under boot, makes sure launch CSM is enabled, then go to advanced on the BIOS select SATA configuration, then change SATA mode to AHCI Mode. Save and exit. Restart the PC.
Leave your bootable disc in the drive, if it doesn't boot, go and check if the above settings didn't change and make sure secured boot menu is disabled. Save and exit. The pc will then boot from the bootable disk.I hope this help cos it worked for me.
