Hi,I was thinking of picking this up, however just wondering if anyone had heard about WITE 2.0 and is it worth wating for.I have zero interest in WITW at this point, being much more interested in the Eastern front.I have DC Barbarossa which is good but would like a larger timescale and theatre, was thinking of DC: Case Blue, but then I just think maybe get WITE.I like some of DC:B abstraction, air war is not a biggie for myself, however Logisitics is.Some opinions would be much apprieciated. Thanks! Originally posted by:WitE is decent product worth buying with nice level of detail, deeper than DC or most of matrix games, i spent yers with WitP and WitP AE and i can say WitE is decent product for normal people - you can play it without burying yourself in a pille of notes and without extra data analyzing software. The level of detail in WitE were perfectly matched, more complex logistical system will make this game more time consuming and not necessarily better. My opinion is go for WitE and leave WitE 2.0 for merry life of a pensioner. There is a middle ground between WitP and WitE. Think it was Joel who acknowledged the problems with the logistics system which were quickly apparent to anyone who played another human player.
Those railway lines mixing with that turn system haven't aged well at all no matter the extra chrome thrown on. Eg Nothing like having to nerf Soviet paratroops because they could cut supply to (close to) the entire Ostheer in one turn. Nor the complete absence of any operational tempo outside of weather events.I couldn't recommend WitE at this price as a beer and pretzels game. And for a serious strategy game, only with reservations about some pretty big flaws. Originally posted by Zebedee: I couldn't recommend WitE at this price as a beer and pretzels game. And for a serious strategy game, only with reservations about some pretty big flaws.I bought it at full price, it was probably the most expensive game (except WitP AE) i have ever bought, in my country it is a lot of money by any standards. But you can never know money might be no issue for him.For me it was worth it, i prefer pacific topic and i would love to see witp AE witch such nice ui.DC is not even close to to WitE, and offcourse WitE 2.0 would be better and deeper but since it is not available go for WitE.WitX games are own class of strategy games, and you cannot compare it to any other game in terms of strategical/operational deep. And to answer question in topic, it is no worth waiting tommorow we might die.
To some extent I agree about needing houserules for PvP in Grigsby games. But having the odd division or corps cut off in WitP isn't quite the same as the entire central and southern eastern front flicking to out of supply in WitE. The WitP equivalent would be sub transporting a company into Seattle harbour and shutting down the entire Allied war effort outside of India. The logistics model in WitE needs a rethink for a WitE2.
If only to save years of 'rebalancing' work which is a direct result of a flawed system.Join you with hoping for something official evolving from WitP:AE. In cost vs time played that's the cheapest game I've ever purchased.
I got the discount for AE from owning WitP but paid full price for that and the physical copy of WitE. I certainly will check in on a WitE2 because when Grigsby and Matrix get it right, there's nothing else to compare.
But when they don't, it's a very expensive coffee coaster. Thankyou for the comments!!Money isnt really an issue, I spend that much on games as its my hobby, I see lots of people complain about cost but then the latest Battlefield with its 'season pass' is pretty much £100.If I get 6 months out of WiTE before 2.0 come out I feel that its worth it and it would recoup its cost (I can spend £30 a month on games easily)I have picked up WiTE.
Hopefully I will not regret my decision!I doubt i will play PVP (I play strat game pretty much against the AI exclusive). The logistics does seem a bit limited, however I do feel that a simpler system can help the AI be more effective.Im sure I will struggle with logistics even with a simple system, I also debate how much I would actually enjoy the WiTW system.I would have got WiTW as it is newer, but from Lets plays it just looks mighty boring.
